On a sunny day in the east side of Paris Whyd interviews Brazilian hip hop star Karol Conka, who is touring across Europe to promote her new album “Batuk Freak.” Selected as one of the Brazilian National Artists, her single “Boa Noite” (used here as the soundtrack to this interview) is being featured by FIFA for the 2014 World Cup.

Inspired by Lauryn Hill and The Fugees, Karol Conka’s unique style is blazing new trails in the Brazilian, and now global, hip hop music scene. In this interview she discusses her influences, her lifetime of writing and composing music, and what her audience is like.

Half a year ago we had the opportunity to invite Kool Keith to an interview for our Channel Zero section. We showed him a bunch of youtube clips and talked with him about the Ultramagnetic MC’s and their contribution to the NBA All-Star Game in 1989, his collab with The Prodigy, a legendary Kanye West interview, current music from Danny Brown, his favorite porn star and Seltzer water. In the end, Kool Keith also tried to shed some light on the mysterious “death” of Tim Dog.
